The painting is part of a serie inspired by Russian Andrei Tarkovsky’s debut movie Ivan’s Childhood (1962), an evocative, poetic journey through the shadows and shards of a boy’s war-torn youth. Westerberg examines how our memory of a film is part of our collective image-bank and therefore collective memory. And at the same time is an entirely different part of our individual memory.
